Be sure to save your wood shavings because they can be used for potty training puppies. Your friends will thank you because the shavings - depending on the wood - can have a scent to mask the dog’s business. They also look a whole lot nicer than stained newspapers used in paper training.
An alternative to paper training, is crate training. And, making a custom designed crate for your new puppy might be an interesting project that shows how much you care for the new addition to your family.
