They’re called …
They’re called inlays and they are made of various different materials - the most common being mother of pearl (because of how if reflects light in different colors). Look up how to do inlay work on the web any you’ll see its a whole craft all by itself.

Two defenses for …
Two defenses for the burst layout - one, I needed to cover up some color defects in the wood itself (you can see the stains on the lower bout before the color coat is added) and two, it was my first go at spraying a sunburst finish. Overall I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

Righty has the …
Righty has the cutout in the wrong place for a lefty, same for the control knobs (they end up under your arm). Since I play lefty with the strings the wrong way up, the one thing I do not need to change on a righty is the strings! It’s Karma I reckon’.

Sorry deathgrape, got no time for guitar projects right now. Just about manage a few minutes to jam (most days anyway). Hey, if money is no object (was for me!) then call up the Custom Shop and they’ll make you a guitar to die for…..I’d still love to do that one day. Cheers.

I use Stewmac because its convenient and yes I’ve got plenty of stuff from them over the years. I’m not claiming any prizes for the Sunburst but I think it came out OK for a first attempt.

Sorry, I’m not building guitars for sale right now. In any case, a righty LP (like any standard guitar) is generally cheaper to buy off the shelf. Its completely scratch built and plays really well - gets a workout pretty much every day!
